Om In The House (or the Amphiri story)

The idea for the Amphiri brand was born during the long lockdown days in 2020. The pandemic turned our lives upside down but the yoga community hurriedly organised to provide us with virtual home shalas.  I found an endless fascination at being able to see into others lives and personal practice spaces; sometimes a partner was sitting on the couch reading a book alongside someone practicing, a dog or cat jumping in front of the camera or onto a mat and children running in to ask something.  Practice took on a very personal and domestic dimension.  I participated to an online studio Christmas party, trainings on the other side of the world that I would probably never have the possibility to participate to and although some people never really warmed to the whole virtual situation I for one had a cosmic moment during the singing of a mantra. Of the many virtual offerings from the Gitananada Ashram in Pondicherry Dott. Ananda Bhavanani invited participants into the “zoom womb”.  Vibrations and teachings abounded.

All this inspired me to create the first collections for Amphiri. Curated collections crafting yoga and design to decorate our homes and practice spaces.
